A. A. Milne, famed for his creation of Winnie the Pooh, wrote the collection of poems, When We Were Very Young, in 1924 after the birth of his son Christopher. These vocal settings of the poems were composed to celebrate the wonder and whimsy of life as viewed with a childlike perspective. It is the composer’s hope that these musical settings of the poems will bring joy to the listener as well as to the singer and pianist.
